Effective slip law for general viscous flows over oscillating surface

چکیده
We consider the non-stationary three dimensional viscous flow in a bounded domain, with the lateral surface containing microscopic surface irregularities. Under the assumption of a smooth flow in the domain without roughness, we prove that there is a smooth solution to a problem with the rough boundary. In the papers by Jäger and Mikelić the friction law was obtained as a perturbation of the Poiseuille flows. Here situation is more complicated. Nevertheless, after studying the corresponding boundary layers and using results on solenoidal vector fields in domains with rough boundaries, we obtain rigorously the Navier friction condition. It is valid when the size and amplitude of the imperfections tend to zero. Furthermore, the friction matrix in the law is determined through a family of auxiliary boundary-layer type problems. Effective equations approximate velocity at order O(ε) in the H-norm, uniformly in time, and O(ε) in the L-norm, also uniformly in time. Approximation for the pressure is O(ε) in the L2loc-norm.

Measurement of Newtonian fluid slip using a torsional ultrasonic oscillator.
The composite torsional ultrasonic oscillator, a versatile experimental system, can be used to investigate slip of a Newtonian fluid at a smooth surface. A rigorous analysis of slip-dependent damping for the oscillator is presented. Initially, the phenomenon of finite surface slip and the slip length are considered for a half space of Newtonian fluid in contact with a smooth, oscillating solid ...

متن کاملUnsteady Magneto Hydro Dynamic Flow of a Second Order Fluid over an Oscillating Sheet with a Second Order Slip Flow Model
Unsteady slip-flow of second grade non-Newtonian electrically conducting fluid over an oscillating sheet has been considered and solved numerically. A second-order slip velocity model is used to predict the flow characteristic past the wall. With the assumption of infinite length in x-direction, velocity of the fluid can be assumed as a function of y and t, hence, with proper variable change pa...

The present numerical attempt deals the sway to transfer of heat and mass characteristics on the time-dependent hydromagnetic boundary layer flow of a viscous fluid over an exponentially inclined preamble stretching. Furthermore, the role of viscous heating, thermal radiation, uneven energy gain or loss, velocity slip, thermal slip and solutal slips are depicted. The prevailing time-dependent P...
متن کاملEffective slip boundary conditions for arbitrary periodic surfaces: the surface mobility tensor
In a variety of applications, most notably microfluidics design, slip-based boundary conditions have been sought to characterize fluid flow over patterned surfaces. We focus on laminar shear flows over surfaces with periodic height fluctuations and/or fluctuating Navier scalar slip properties. We derive a general formula for the ‘effective slip’, which describes equivalent fluid motion at the m...
